It is a great year for the European Week for Waste Reduction and it is not over yet! It started with the Let’s Clean Up Europe campaign on 6-8 May 2016, and the EWWR 2015 Awards Ceremony on 11 May 2016. These events were followed by two webinars in June.
The success of Let’s Clean Up Europe (LCUE) is depicted in its figures with more than 5,800 clean-up actions and almost 500,000 participants involved in 21 countries all over Europe. This is an essential clean-up campaign under the coordination of the EWWR as it not only aims at cleaning up but also at raising awareness on waste prevention: No waste is the best waste!

Another much awaited event was the EWWR 2015 Awards Ceremony. It took place in Brussels on 11 May and rewarded the best actions in each of the following categories: Administration/Public Authority, Association/NGO, Business/Industry, Educational Establishment, Citizen(s) and Others. It was also a reward for everyone involved to see that more and more people are becoming aware of waste issues. Details about the winners can be found in the Press Release, with a comprehensive overview of the EWWR Awards in the Press File.
Now the EWWR story continues and preparations are in full swing for the 8th edition! This time the Prevention Thematic Days will focus on Packaging waste reduction.
